Kirsty & Ryan

The lovingly restored Old Forge is situated on canal Lane and next to the A1079. The Tea Room and Lounge are converted parts of the original house built in the 19th century.  The house served the canal opposite; built in the same century the canal transported agricultural goods from the East Riding to the south and west.

The 9.5 mile canal is now protected by three separate Sites of Scientific Interest. Wildlife that can be spotted down the tow path include otters, water voles, kingfishers, barn owls, dragonflies and a wide variety of plant species.

Run by husband and wife team Ryan and Kirsty, the Tearoom encapsulates their love of food inspired by their culinary experiences from around the world.

Returning to Yorkshire after working internationally and across the Uk, the pair wanted to bring their experience of quality home made food to their new found home in Pocklington.

Their passion for good , simple , tasty food is demonstrated through homemade scones served with raspberry jam - the raspberries grown in their kitchen garden. Victoria sponge is served with homegrown strawberries and paninis feature seasonal veg from the greenhouse.

True to their Yorkshire roots the pair wholly endorse local produce , serving Malton based Roost coffee and York based Yorvale ice cream.

The pair support the Pocklington Canal Amenity Society who are working tirelessly to restore the Canal opposite. They are also expanding into hosting private events and workshops.
